Why Are Natural Diamonds More Valuable Than Lab Grown Diamonds?
Diamonds are one of the shiniest materials on earth. Its shine attracts everyone. Its reflection, its color, its purity is loved by one and all. There is a saying, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”, however, it’s true but it’s not complete. Diamonds are loved by all and befriended by one and all, no matter the gender or the age of an individual.
In today’s world, there is an inferior alternative available for everything. In the same way, there has been an emergence of lab-grown diamonds across the world. The topic of diamonds is contentious. Lab-grown diamonds have drawn a lot of hype and have received both positive and negative reviews.
Buying a diamond is a luxury, and it poses a lot of questions to be answered before you buy one. One of the questions to be asked when you are buying a diamond or say a solitaire diamond is whether you want a natural diamond as rare as you or a lab-grown diamond, manufactured in the factory.
SHAPES AND SIZES
Just like natural diamonds are available in different shapes like round, heart, emerald, ovals, pears, and many more, similarly, lab-grown diamonds also come in similar shapes and sizes and various color and clarity grades. If two diamonds are kept in front of you, it will be virtually impossible to identify the original and the lab-grown one.
Lab-grown diamonds or Natural Diamond
The answer to this question varies from individual to individual. If only appearance is the factor then, why spend a higher amount. One can go for a Lab-grown diamond. However, before picking a lab-grown diamond, there are factors that need to be considered, after all, it’s not only a diamond you buy to wear but it’s also an asset, you purchase. The foremost characteristic of an asset is, it embodies future benefit. Imagine you buy a diamond worth many thousands, but when you want to upgrade it, it’s difficult or it isn’t even paying you what you paid for it.
PRICE
When lab diamonds came in, they were priced higher than natural diamonds. However, as time passed and manufacturing of Lab-grown diamonds increased there is a constant fall in the prices of the lab-grown diamond. It is very much possible that when you buy a lab-grown diamond at X amount, but after a few months, you get an amount much lesser than X you paid for it.
On the other hand, Natural Diamond prices have been either constant or increasing. The only reason is that rare and natural diamonds are not in abundance. Natural diamonds take billions of years to be created by mother earth and there is a supply gap. Whereas in the case of lab-grown diamonds, they are available in abundance and have no supply cap, so prices keep falling for the same.
VALUE
Now comes the second most important being the resale value. Lab-grown diamonds are a depreciating asset. It is almost impossible to re-sell them, without accepting a few paise for a rupee paid. Whereas in the case of Natural diamond, you will at least get the same amount you bought it for if not an appreciated value. Most likely, you will get an appreciated value.
Lab-grown diamond prices are in constant fall and there are no signs of recovery. It is very much possible that a lab-grown diamond bought today will be worthless in front of a natural diamond of the same color and grade. As historically, natural diamonds are on a continuous rise.
FRIENDLY TO ENVIRONMENT
Isn’t it obvious something produced naturally is more environmentally friendly than ones created by humans? Lab-grown diamonds have a high carbon-intensive process involved in producing the same.
Isn’t the answer clear? That it’s the natural diamond and natural diamond embossed jewellery is the answer.
Always buy natural diamond jewellery, it has style, class, and a lifetime value attached to it.
